Sciatic Nerve

Well, I'm already having back pains...so early in the game. I spoke to my nurse this morning and she said it sounds like it's my sciatic nerve. It comes and goes but was the most painful Saturday after a trip up to OK to see Samantha and Tyler for their b-day party. It was about a five hour trip. I was pretty miserable that day. Anywho, the pain went away for a couple of days but started to come back this morning when I woke up. The nurse told me to take tylenol every four hours for 2 days to stop inflamation and to use low heat. Also said that good hydration is key. I guess I need to drink more water so I can pee 5,000 more times a day (tmi, sorry). Whooohoo! I'm not bitter though. I'm still very excited!

Oh, the nurse also told me that the results for the blood work (from my last appointment) was all normal. :)

Hello in there!

I swear I felt some movement this morning from the little one living in my tummy. I stood there with my hands on my stomach for about a half hour afterwards trying to feel something else. OBSESS MUCH?

Of course, I might have felt something, but still not sure. I WANT TO FEEL IT AGAIN!

Sonogram

Well, in addition to my morning sickness earlier this week I have found out that I also have strep throat. Luckily my doctor says there are safe antibiotics to take while pregnant.  :)
The sonogram went very well. Everything looks normal. The baby has four limbs a heart and a healthy heart beat. It was great to see because the baby kept bouncing up and down. It also was sitting straight up with it's legs crossed and sucking it's thumb. The sono nurse said it's rare to see the baby sitting up like that and also see it sucking it's thumb so early in the pregnancy. OUR CHILD IS GIFTED! I wish I could have shared the moment with all of you because it was really amazing. Danny had a huge smile on his face the whole time and even had the nurse print out an extra picture for him to take to work with him. He's a proud daddy.

Get Down With The Sickness!

Well, I have a sore throat this week and had an upset tummy this morning. Not a good combination. I ate a plain ego waffle and had some sprite and I'm feeling a little better. I thought my morning sickness was gone, but I guess not. Oh well. I'm still in a good mood because this Friday we go to the doctor and get to see the baby again. This time it should actually resemble a baby. I will post a pic of the sonogram once I get it.

In the meantime, I can give you an update on Danny. He's doing very well at his new job, Central Kia. He is getting some training this week, but is one of the top salesman for the month so far. Pretty good for it being only his 4th week. I'm very proud of him!

High Blood Pressure or Anxiety

Everything is going well so far except that when I lay down at bedtime my heart is just pounding away. I spoke with my doctor today and she said that it is a normal thing with pregnant women and is usually related to anxiety. I was worried that my blood pressure might be high. She said that with high blood pressure I might see dark spots, get dizzy, have swelling, or just might not feel really well. IF that's the case I should get checked out. But since I haven't had any of those other symptoms, just a rapidly beating heart at bedtime, I should be fine. She said that if it gets overwhelming or I can't handle it anymore that they can put me on some pregnancy safe anti-anxiety medication.

Since I have my 12 week sonogram next Friday (March 14th) I'm going to try to make it to that appointment without needing anything. Hopefully I can. I might also start doing my yoga before bedtime. Yoga helps calm the nerves and relax the body. Or... maybe I can get Danny to give me a nice massage before bedtime  ;)

Ultrasound -- 2/8/2008

It's a bean! 7mm in size, but has a heart and heart beat already. Everything looks normal, I go back in 5 weeks for my 12 week ultrasound. By that time we should see arms and legs! :)

Confirmation -- 2/4/2008

Meg called me with confirmation today. I am PREGNANT! My HCG levels were at approx. 55,600 which puts me in the over 5 weeks range. I will find out my exact due date and everything this Friday when I go in for my first sonogram. BTW, my puke-less streak is now over. I was very sick tonight and can only eat crackers. Hurray for saltines!

Doctor's Appointment -- 2/1/2008

Well, my doctor's appt. turned out just to be lab work. They took my blood and won't have results until Monday. If I am pregnant, I am 6 weeks along. If not, there's gotta be something else wrong with me, cause I have never felt like this before. We'll see, more waiting. Meg (my cool nurse) says I'm probably pregnant and she scheduled me for a sonogram next Friday.

Not so bad... -- 1/31/2008

I'm still a little shaky and a little nauseous, but not as bas as the past few days. I think my body is getting used to it. I have been feeling tired lately and just want to veg-out on the couch. Poor Danny. Hopefully it won't last too long. I have changed my diet and am trying not to drink any caffeine, so I'm sure my body is in shock. I'm excited that tomorrow is Friday and I will go to the doctor for confirmation of the pregnancy.

Not feeling so hot -- 1/30/2008

Today I'm not feeling too hot. My stomach seems on edge. I haven't had to vomit yet, but I woke up with the dry heaves. It settled dow a little after I ate some oatmeal, but it feels like it can turn at any moment. YUCK! BTW, I cried listening to Hootie and the Blowfish. "Just let her cry..."

Prenatal Vitamins -- 1/29/2008

I got my first set of prenatal vitamins and took my very first one tonight after dinner. Let's hope I don't get sick. I hate being SICK! I also set up a doctor's appointment for Friday at 11:30 for a pregnancy test. I need professional confirmation. :) Danny is ant-zie and wants to tell someone. We don't want to tell our parents until all is confirmed. So he called his best friend Clint and gave him the good news. Jessica was at school, but she called me when she got out and congratulated us also. My new nickname is "Fertile Mertle".

Am I pregnant? 1/28/07

I am about a week late for my period and felt quisy in the shower this morning. In fact, I thought I was going to faint. I took a pregnancy test at work that came out positive. I was excited and shaking and not really sure what to do. I went to Bridget (friend/coworker) and confided in her. She did well to calm me down.

Danny met me for lunch around 11:30. I wrapped up the pregnancy test in a leftover "trick or treat" bag that Bridget had and gave it to him as a present. You can only imagine his face when I handed him a "trick or treat" bag at the end of January. After he pulled the pregnancy test out of the bag he seemed surprised, but I think he already suspected it. ;) It took a little while for the concept to really hit him, but he said he was all warm and fuzzy and very happy.

First Post!

Well, this is the first post for the Baby Searcey Blog. I hope to post comments at least a couple of times a week to keep everyone updated on our pregnancy. Feel free to check back often!  :)

Love you all!
